Award for ANSMANN: Winner of Industry 4.0 Award 2025
ANSMANN AG was named the winner of the Allianz Industry 4.0 Award 2025. The award was given to our AI-based quality assurance in battery pack production, which ensures maximum safety and process stability with automatic image processing.

Great success for ANSMANN AG: At the Allianz Industry 4.0 Award Baden-Württemberg 2025, our company was recognized as the winner in the electrical engineering sector. The award was given to our innovative solution “Quality Assurance through AI Image Processing in Battery Pack Production” — another milestone on our journey to intelligent, safe and highly automated production.
Automated quality assurance: How AI makes our production safer
In battery pack production, we use the S70 Automated Visual Inspection System from INSPEKTO. This AI-based image processing system checks the correct placement of battery cells in cell holders — a critical step in the production process.
An employee manually places the individual cells in plastic housings (cell holders). The correct polarity is crucial here. If a cell is inserted the wrong way around, the subsequent welding process may result in short circuits — and in the worst case, fires. This would not only result in severe material damage, but also significant health risks for our employees.
AI plays a central role here:
- Detects incorrectly inserted cells in real time
- Mark the affected positions directly
- Prevents safety-critical faulty processes
- Can be quickly and easily trained for new battery types
The result: significantly higher process reliability, less waste and a stable, digitalized manufacturing process.
Confirmation of our level of digitization — Allianz Industry 4.0 award
The award ceremony took place as part of the anniversary event “STARTUP THE FUTURE” at the SpardaWelt event center in Stuttgart. Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut honored the prize winners for their high level of digitization and innovative strength. A total of 28 companies were honored in the “Winner” category, in addition to the four “Excellence” prize winners.
With over 140 participants from business and science, the event offered exciting insights into future topics such as Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, robotics and the vision of an Industry 2040.
