ANSMANN receives TOP 100 seal for the fourth time
TOP 100 four times in a row: ANSMANN AG once again impresses with measurable customer benefits, an active open innovation culture and excellent, digitally supported innovation processes.

Four times TOP 100: Innovation as a systematic success factor
At ANSMANN, innovation is not an individual project, but a structural part of the corporate strategy. This consistent approach was once again honored with the TOP 100 seal in 2026 — for the fourth time in a row.
The competition honors medium-sized companies that not only promote innovation, but also implement it measurably effectively. At ANSMANN, this is clearly reflected in the key figures: The 2025 innovation record attests an overall rating of A+, in particular with top scores in the area of external orientation/open innovation. In addition, the 2025 progress report shows an exceptionally high innovation quotient (IQ) of 226 — a clear indication of above-average innovation momentum.
Customer benefits as a measure of innovation
The focus of all innovation activities is on concrete added value for users. The aim is to develop solutions that address real challenges in use — for example in terms of runtime, safety, profitability and sustainability.
“For us, innovations are only successful if they measurably improve the real usage behavior of our customers — through longer runtimes, greater security and lower overall costs.”
, explains Thilo Hack, CEO of ANSMANN AG.
“That is why we are investing specifically in data-based services over the entire product life cycle and in substantially extending the lifespan of battery packs. ”
Smart battery: data-based services throughout the life cycle
A central element of this strategy is the smart battery. Connected battery packs collect status and usage data via Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud technologies. This data enables new, data-driven business models — from predictive maintenance and usage-based service packages to additional security and efficiency functions during operation.
For customers, this means one thing in particular: higher availability, lower downtime and better predictability. At the same time, maintenance and replacement costs can be significantly reduced — a decisive factor for the total cost of ownership.
Accucycle: Longer lifespan instead of rapid replacement
In parallel with the digitization of battery systems, ANSMANN is working intensively to extend product life. Together with Chemnitz University of Technology, the ZIM project “Accucycle” is currently being implemented.
The aim is to develop an industrial-grade process that allows individual cells in battery packs to be replaced in a targeted manner. As a result, battery systems can be used significantly longer without having to replace complete packs. This saves resources, reduces costs and contributes directly to sustainable industrial applications.
Excellent processes thanks to AI and automation
In addition to product and service innovations, ANSMANN invests specifically in modern, efficient processes. Generative AI and AI-based image processing are used along the entire value chain.
Almost fully automated invoice processing in accounting and automated quality checks in production increase speed, process reliability and first-pass yield.
“We measure ourselves by impact, not by intent. Early customer feedback, quick go/kill decisions and AI-based processes are central tools of our innovative work.”
, explains Markus Fürst, CEO of ANSMANN AG.
“The results are shorter time-to-market, higher manufacturing quality and services that measurably reduce customer downtime. ”
Scientifically based award
The TOP 100 competition is rated by the team led by Nikolaus Franke from the Vienna University of Economics and Business. More than 100 criteria are examined in five categories — including innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, processes and organization, open innovation, and innovation success.
ANSMANN was particularly impressed by the early involvement of customers, the structured management of the innovation portfolio and the close digital networking with external partners from science and industry.
Awards ceremony at the German SME Summit
The award ceremony for the TOP 100 Innovators 2026 will take place on June 25, 2026 as part of the German SME Summit at Congress Center Heidelberg. Former Federal President Christian Wulff is the mentor of the competition.
