What is standby power?

This is the power consumed by equipment when turned off by the remote control, but still connected to the mains power and usually - but not necessarily - showing an LED indicator to say the product is in sleep mode.

Standby energy consumption of common devices

Why ZeroWatt?

Standby power consumption in countries like Germany is estimated at 20bn kWh each year, accounting for 10 – 20 % of a standard household‘s annual energy usage. Savings of several hundred Euros could easily be realized if Standby power could be eliminated.

“ZeroWatt” products are designed to save both energy costs and provide a benefit to the environment, as by cutting standby power consumption it would save around 20m tons of CO2 emissions annually.

How does it work?

Devices equipped with ZeroWatt technology are automatically disconnected from the mains power when switched to standby mode. This not only lowers energy costs, but also prolongs product life.
